Upside-Down Wisdom #28: Reframing Thoughts
“You need to reframe your thoughts.”
“You need to reframe your thoughts.”
It sounds smart.
Empowering.
Like a mature way to handle life’s challenges.
Take that upsetting thought and shift the lens.
Find the silver lining.
Put a new spin on the story—one that feels better.
Reframing is everywhere—therapy offices, self-help books, inspirational Instagram reels.
It’s the go-to solution for negative thinking.
But here’s the thing:
That’s upside-down.
Because it treats thought like truth.
Something important. Sticky. Worth fixing.
As if your painful thoughts are permanent unless you consciously reshape them.
But thoughts aren’t stone—they’re weather.
They don’t need reframing.
They pass on their own.
When you try to reframe, you’re still holding on.
Still taking the content seriously.
Still buying into the idea that your peace depends on better thinking.
But peace doesn’t come from better thoughts.
It comes from seeing thought for what it is.
Temporary. Unreliable. Not the boss of you.
You don’t need to reframe your thinking.
You just need to remember that it’s thought.
Because the moment you stop wrestling with your mind,
it resets itself—beautifully, naturally, every time.
Here’s today’s Upside-Down Wisdom:
You don’t need to reframe your thoughts. You’re free the second you stop taking them seriously.
