Upside-Down Wisdom #23: Moral Outrage
“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”
“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”
It sounds like a moral duty.
A rallying cry.
A warning not to look away.
Especially online.
Where outrage is currency.
Where being “informed” means scrolling through anger, tragedy, and despair.
But here’s the thing:
That’s upside-down.
Outrage isn’t proof that you care.
It’s proof that thought has swept you away.
You can see injustice without drowning in it.
You can care deeply without losing yourself.
You can act from wisdom, not reactivity.
Clarity isn’t apathy.
Calm isn’t complicity.
And presence isn’t privilege.
Sometimes, the most radical thing you can do
is stay grounded in a world that’s constantly trying to pull you out of yourself.
Here’s today’s Upside-Down Wisdom:
If you’re not outraged, maybe you’re finally paying attention.
