“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
We love this one, don’t we?
It sounds so tough. So heroic. Like suffering is some kind of personal trainer—beating you down so you can build back better.
But here’s the thing:
Pain isn’t what makes you strong. It just hurts.
Hardship doesn’t hand out strength like a prize for surviving.
Struggle doesn’t install resilience like a software upgrade.
Strength isn’t something life gives you through hardship.
It’s something life reveals—because it was there all along.
You don’t have to prove yourself through pain.
You don’t need to “earn” your resilience by barely making it through.
Here’s today’s Upside-Down Wisdom:
Suffering doesn’t make you strong. Your strength was there before, during, and after the story of suffering you told yourself.
